The Ьook offers a publication of the reports, written by the agents of the Swedish crown about the Moscow streltsy uprising 1б82 and preserved nowadays in the Riksarkivet, in Stockholm. The Swedish royal court was observing the events of the uprising and the political strife among the Muscovite ruling elite during the time from March 1682 till February 1б83 with great interest. Detailed reports with news from Muscovy were sent to Stockholm by agents from the cities of Narva, Novgorod, Pskov, and Moscow. Both the text of the original letters (written mostly in German) and its Russian translation are included in the publication. The book also contains thorough commentary to the published letters, as well as two articles, dealing with the history of Swedish agents' network in Muscovy in the seventeenth century and its unique intelligence of the particularities of the Moscow uprising of 1682.
